    Vegetable-tanned leather has a character all its own. It develops a rich patina over time, becoming softer, deeper, and more personal with every passing season—gathering a story of its own as it ages alongside you.

    What Is Vegetable-Tanned Leather?

    Vegetable tanning is one of the oldest traditions in leather-making, using natural materials such as tree bark, roots, leaves, and fruits.

    Unlike modern chrome tanning, which can be completed in a matter of days, vegetable tanning is a much slower process that can take weeks or even months. This patience allows the natural character of the leather to shine through, giving it a rich aroma, a warm, firm feel, and a beautiful depth beautiful depth that continues to develop over time.

    How to Care for Your Leather

    Vegetable-tanned leather responds beautifully to the way it is handled and cared for. A little attention will help it age gracefully and develop its own unique character.

    Protect from water & stains

    Water can leave marks on vegetable-tanned leather. We recommend applying a leather-safe water-repellent spray before first use, following the product instructions.

    Avoid excessive heat & direct sunlight. A little sunlight can deepen the leather’s color beautifully, but prolonged direct sunlight or intense heat may cause uneven discoloration or dry the leather.

    Handle with care

    The natural surface of vegetable-tanned leather can scratch more easily than heavily finished leather. The good news is that many light scratches can be gently buffed out and gradually become part of the leather’s evolving patina.

    Condition when needed

    When the leather begins to feel dry, apply a small amount of a suitable leather conditioner and gently work it into the surface. A little goes a long way.

    **For extra protection, we recommend applying a leather-safe water-repellent spray before first use.
